Tips for a Great Portrait Session
Arrive Early
Arrive 15 minutes early to prepare for your session so you won’t feel rushed or anxious.
Clothing
Choose clothes that fit you properly, make you feel comfortable and are clean and wrinkle-free. Select shoes and socks that complement your outfit and keep accessories to a minimum.
Wild patterns will draw attention away from you, so we advise sticking to solid colors. Avoid low-cut tops and keep in mind that lightweight materials may be see-through in photographs.
Clothing Changes
Outfit changes should be hung neatly on hangers to keep them from becoming wrinkled. Bring a good selection of styles, including both casual and dressy.
Outfit changes will need to happen quickly to get the most out of your session, so plan ahead. Keep in mind, depending on the location of your photoshoot, you may not have much privacy to make clothing changes.
Hair & Makeup
We encourage you to keep your hair and makeup natural-looking to allow your personality to take center stage. If you are going to cut or color your hair do it at least a week in advance. Arrive at your session with your hair done and makeup fully applied.
Props
Feel free to bring along props that help define who you are and what you love. Ideas include balloons, bicycles, motorcycles, vehicles, sports gear, awards and more.
Pets
We welcome you to include your pet in your photo shoot with advance notice. A kennel or extra pair of hands may be required to keep the session moving along. Arrive early to allow your pet to get acclimated to the environment.
